I have always been passionate about extreme sports from a young age, growing up with skateboards and bikes. It provided an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and spend quality time with the people closest to me. I wanted to give something back to the community so I started re-blogging amateur biking photos, this gradually expanded to a range of sports. The concept was popular because it allowed anyone to reach a large audience who held similar interests, I figured there was a community growing around the brand so developed a simple website that facilitated the sharing of digital photos within this community. The site proved popular and once implemented in the form of a mobile app there was a significant boom in number of active users. I wanted to build something special so learnt to code for iOS and rebuilt the much loved web app in a native format. The network is now at several thousands of users and still growing – the community is active and connected.
“A project like this is never complete, as the community grows in size I hope to expand the mobile platform across Android and potentially Windows Phone. Starting a social network in today’s climate will always be challenging due to the over-saturated market and quality of competition. I believe this project has been successful due to the niche audience and personal connection made with users.” – Edward Jenkins
